Volcanic eruptions don't only destroy. Sometimes they also create, as happened here: Debris from the eruption blocked the normal outflow of Coldwater Creek, which ultimately created this beautiful lake.

The pond could be a water source if you are out of water. It is good, clear water, but there are plenty of flowing creek around you that you might prefer.

The water in Green Lake is a little hard to get to, but there are some nice hidden sites to take a break in the shade or spend the night.

Blue Lake is a popular hiking destination and for good reason. The water is crystal clear, the lake is surrounded by pine forest and you will find great spots to camp or just to rest in the shade.

Deer Lake is the last water source for quite some miles, so fill up your bottles! You have to climb down some feet to get to the lake, but you can see it from the trail.

Offering one of the first good campsites on the Pacific Crest Trail heading north into Washington from Oregon, Gillette Lake is a beautiful little lake fed by Gillette Creek. Watch out for poison oak in the area as it is quite thick through this section.
