The lake is open to fishing with artificial lures only in the summer and is closed to ice fishing. The use of motorboats is prohibited. The shores are surrounded by thick trees and marshland with the Saddleback Mountain rising more than 4,000 feet above the lake.

The ride up to Quill Hill leads along a hard packed dirt road that meanders through forest with clearings along the way. Once you reach the peak, you will find a nice picnic area and fantastic 360-degree views.
