Parking in the surrounding area costs between $15 and $30 (as of 2025). We were there by bicycle. There is no entrance fee for the jetty.

Atlantis is suspended in a special section of the building at an angle of 43.21 degrees, with its payload bay doors open and its extendable Canadarm—just as one would see it from space, for example, after docking with the International Space Station. The building itself is architecturally deliberately designed: On the outside, there are two "wings" symbolizing launch and re-entry. The facade colors and textures represent the heat and light during atmospheric re-entry and the tiled underside of the orbiter. In front of the entrance is a replica of the external tank with two solid rocket boosters in an upright position, similar to the launch assembly.

This 1,200 fishing pier is open 24 hours for use by the public. It has lights for night fishing, and fish-cleaning tables with running water. If helpful, you can access both the pier and the beach with specialized wheelchairs.

Space View Park sits just 15 miles from the launch pads, so it is a great spot to watch a shuttle launch. This park also honors America's astronauts and the behind-the-scenes workers in space exploration. The park has picnic areas, restrooms, and is close to downtown restaurants. Come compare your handprints to those of Mercury Astronauts, listen to live audio feeds from NASA's control room, and see the historical walkthrough of space exploration.
