The road is more enjoyable than the cycle path.

There are two directions to end a Florida Trail Thru hike, and this is the deciding junction. Take the Southern alternate for 58 miles to Fort Pickens, right on the coast, and more of the "official" northern terminus. The northern route to the Alabama border is 45.5 miles. Many International Appalachian Trail hikers will take the north route to continue their journey to the Pinhoti Trail.

Parking area with Access to the Juniper Creek hiking trail as well as the mountain bike loops to the west on the south side of the road. Also access to the Blue Trail which is great for some gravel riding. There are a few beaches that all had good sun when I was there. A nice place to cool off after activities. Also there were some sand cliffs a short walk to the south that are a sight to behold.

Riverwalk Park in Milton is a great spot to take a break and enjoy the Blackwater River. There are lots of statues and war memorials, a shaded gazebo, and visitors can sit and watch the Blackwater River Swing Bridge move. There is no public restroom at the park, but there are lots of bars and restaurants in the area.

Just a few feet to the north begins Historical Florida SR1 Old Brick Road, an old brick road used from 1919 to 1921. It was once called the "Spanish Trail" or "State Road 1." This trail runs parallel to Florida Highway 90 for about 6 miles, with plenty of opportunity to get on and off. If you're looking to hop off and have a unique experience (and bumpier ride), here is your chance!

Navarre Park is a nice waterfront park featuring several benches, trails, a pavilion, and a splash pad for hot days. It's a great place to relax and enjoy the water view, with a nice open green area perfect for picnics.
