CP Rail Regional Trail은 남쪽의 미네소타 강에서 북쪽의 Bassett Creek Regional Trail까지 이어지는 21마일 길이의 계획된 지역 복도입니다. 제안된 경로는 Nine Mile Creek, Cedar Lake LRT, North Cedar Lake, Luce Line, Bassett Creek, Crystal Lake의 6개 지역 트레일과 연결될 것입니다. 이 트레일 각각은 다시 다른 많은 트레일과 연결됩니다. Purgatory Creek is a stream located in the western metropolitan area of Minnesota. It primarily flows through Hennepin County. The creek originates from three primary sources: Lotus Lake in Chanhassen, Silver Lake in Shorewood, and wetlands in Minnetonka. After these tributaries merge, Purgatory Creek travels about 12 to 16 miles, passing through a variety of landscapes, including lakes, marshes, forests, and urban areas. Notable points along its route include the Purgatory Recreation Area (the location of this highlight) and Staring Lake in Eden Prairie. The creek’s watershed covers most of Eden Prairie and Minnetonka, with smaller sections in Deephaven, Shorewood, and Chanhassen. Ultimately, Purgatory Creek passes through the bluffs of the Minnesota River Valley before emptying into the Minnesota River.

This creek runs almost 22 miles in total, and is popular with paddlers of all sorts. If you want to kick back and watch them zoom by on the current, pull over and look for some benches on the east bank.

This trailhead sits at the junction of Medicine Lake Trail and the Luce Line Regional Trail along the banks of Medicine Lake. The trailhead offers parking, beachside amenities, restrooms, and drinking fountains.

Although bicycles are allowed on many of the park trials, the legend on the map shows, sadly, that the circumferential trail on Pike Island is for hiking only.
