If you've ever tried to plan hiking in Tulsa County, you know how quickly the options can feel overwhelming. With so many trails to choose from, it's hard to tell which ones are genuinely worth your time and effort, and which are just filler. That's where we come in. Our komoot community has walked, ridden, and reviewed countless routes here, and we've distilled that collective wisdom into a curated shortlist of the very best. We're here to save you the guesswork.

Hiking in Tulsa County is a unique blend of urban convenience and rugged natural beauty. You'll find everything from serene river park systems to ancient cross timber woodlands and distinct urban wilderness areas like Turkey Mountain, offering rolling hills and dense woods. The landscape shifts from flood-plain forests and wetlands to open meadows, often with scenic views of the Arkansas River. While many trails are easy, there are also more challenging options for those looking for a workout. The best time to hike is often outside the peak summer heat, when the weather is milder and the trails are at their most inviting.

If you're looking for a classic Tulsa experience, we'd start with the Keystone Singletrack Trail (Big Loop). This easy 4.5 miles (7.3 km) route offers a fantastic introduction to the ancient cross timber woodlands and views of Keystone Lake. For those seeking a longer, more challenging adventure, the River Parks Trail Loop is a difficult 15.7 miles (25.3 km) option that showcases the extensive river park system. With over 300 hikers already exploring Tulsa County with komoot, you're in good company.
