The Riverfront Trail is a popular urban greenway trail that follows the Cowlitz River. It is paved and completely flat, so it is a great place for a relaxed walk.

One of several bridges that cross over Lake Sacajawea. This bridge will take you to the other side of the park, while there is another bridge further along the trail that brings you to a small island in the middle of the lake.

Lake Sacajawea Park is a popular park for fishing, canoeing and picnicking. There are several miles of walking trails in the park that go around the perimeter of the lake.

The Trail of the Two Forests is a short loop trail that leads along an ancient lava flow that spilled down from Mount Saint Helens. You will walk through an emerald forest and discover the remains of an old forest cast in stone. There are deep holes in the ground where trees just burned instantly when they were hit by the flaming hot lava. You can also crawl through a narrow lava tube. It's a beautiful adventure if you have just few time.

The riverbed in the valley was part of the volcanic eruption at that time. The mud masses and pyroclastic flows wallowed here to the west. In the background you can see the volcano in good weather.
