Of the many stops along the blue ridge parkway near Asheville, the craggy dome overlook is one of the more well known locations to stop and view the scenic valley

The summit is located just outside the parking lot. It is a steep hill to the top where you can overlook the valley (unless it’s super foggy)

The Craggy Gardens Picnic Area is a super popular stop off of the Blue Ridge Parkway (Milepost 367.6). There are a load of picnic tables, visitor center, gazebo, and lots of trail access from this large overlook.

Craggy Dome View is an official overlook on the Blue Ridge Parkway. It's at Milepost 364.2 and provides access to the trail that climbs up Craggy Pinnacle. Craggy Pinnacle is the summit right next to the overlook, but the viewpoint actually faces towards Craggy Dome on the other side of the parkway.

Mount Mitchell is the tallest mountain in the United States east of the Mississippi River. The peak sits at 6,684 feet and is surrounded by hiking trails, scenic driving and biking roads, picnic areas, and campgrounds. You'll likely see a lot of other visitors once you get up here to the parking lot at the summit. There is a small, seasonal concession stand, bathrooms, and a water fountain here at the top.

The Ridge Junction Overlook is situated at Milepost 355.3 on the Blue Ridge Parkway and is just outside of Mount Mitchell State Park. The viewpoint is nearly a mile in the sky (5,160 feet elevation) and shows off the southern ridge leading to the tallest mountain east of the Mississippi River. The viewpoint used to be a bit overgrown, but there has been recent maintenance in the area that cleared the overgrowth.
