The Monument to Seafarers and Seafaring was designed during the war years of 1939–1945 and erected in 1950. It is a tribute to Norwegian seafarers and Norway's maritime history. The monument consists of four large relief panels and 12 statues of Norwegian seafarers from the Viking Age to the 20th century and stands in the central square, Torgallmenningen.

Across the street is the fish market

The Fish Market is one of Bergen's biggest attractions and has existed since the 1200s. Since then, the square has been one of the most important places for trade between fishermen, farmers, and the people of Bergen. The Fish Market is bustling year-round, with fresh fish brought in daily. In this beautiful setting, you can sit with views of Bryggen, Rosenkrantz Tower, Håkon Hall, and the Byfjord while enjoying a delicious seafood platter.

The earliest historical records of this church date back to the year 1181 . Medieval church. (900 years ago). After the bad fire in 1248 another stone church was built on its place. Nowadays it is used for organ concerts and it can sit up to 600 people

Grieg Concert hall is nerby. It was named in honor of Bergen-born composer Edvard Grieg, who served as music director of the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra from 1880 until 1882. It serves as the home of the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra

Håkon's Hall was built by King Håkon Håkonsson between 1247 and 1261 as the largest and most magnificent building in the royal palace in Bergen, the then political center of Norway. Håkon's Hall is Bergen's medieval palace and the king's reception hall. It is open only for exclusive banquets and parties. Opening hours can be found online.

St. Olav's Cathedral was built around 1150 and dedicated to the Norwegian saint Olav II Haraldsson (St. Olav). Currently (August 25), the altar area is covered in scaffolding, so you can't see much of it.
