This trail offers a beautiful route through lush forest with stunning views to the east of the White River area. In addition to the majestic old-growth trees, you'll also encounter a wide variety of mushrooms on the forest floor. The trail runs between Lower Twin Lake and the Frog Lake Trailhead, with a spur trail that will take you up to the Frog Lake Butte Summit. It's the perfect path to immerse yourself in the beauty of the Pacific Northwest.

About 50 feet off the highway, the pavement takes riders to an overlook of the Memaloose Hills, called the Memaloose Lookout. Memaloose Overlook has a viewpoint of Memaloose Island and is a great photo opportunity, especially on a clear day.

With the solgan "What can we do in Dufur for you?" this small town is a good base camp for those wanting anything outdoors in a short drive. Dufur boasts century-old farms, wheat ranches and mills, fruit orchards, wineries, the Barlow Trail, a Pioneer Museum, an old bank vault now filled with nothing but antlers, and Oregon’s largest certified organic produce company. The Historic Columbia River Highway State Trail is split into a bunch of different segments, and this part of the path is known as the Twin Tunnels Segment. This part of the trail travels from Hood River to Mosier and passes through some famous tunnels on the completely paved path. There are views of the river for the majority of the path.

Mosier is named after Jonah H. Mosier, who settled the area around 1821. Today, it is best known for apple, cherry, and prune production, and the town is only about 400 acres in size.

The Rowena Crest is an impressive viewpoint for cyclists and drivers and has a trailhead. On the Historic Columbia River Highway, you can look down on Mayer State Park and the Columbia River Gorge. Riders will see the iconic Rowena Loops they just came up with and can be impressed on their efforts climbing the horseshoe curves that wind up and down. On a clear day, look south to see Mt. Hood.

The Upper Twin Lake doesn't get as many visitors as the Lower Twin Lake. In addition to a more quiet place, you'll get a nice view of Mount Hood and the Barlow Creek valley.

This serene lake is a popular overnight backpacking destination. In early summer, wild rhododendrons are in bloom. In late summer it is a great spot to take a break and snack on ripe huckleberries that are abundant in the area.
