In its heyday Virginia City was the richest, and roughest, city east of the Mississippi. It was also the place where Samuel Clemens transformed himself in to Mark Twain. These days the historic buildings are home to casinos, bars, cafes, museums and souvenir shops. Whether it's your destination or just a stop along the way, you won't have a boring time in Virginia City.

Short easy ride safely away fromt the road. A great way to see some wild horses and Reno scenery.

Great run

The Marble Bluff Fish Passage was developed to monitor and assist the endangered Cui-ui and Lahontan Trout populations. The site is open for visitors Monday-Friday between 8am-3pm, during the February to July spawning season. Be advised that these dates are not set in stone as the spawning season does fluctuate from year to year, so check in advance if you're planning on visiting the site.

On the south side of Pyramid Lake there are a number of gravel roads that will take you down to the shore, or to viewpoints over the lake. These make for good starting/stopping points as further north the mountains block the view of the lake.

This bikeway is popular with cyclists, runners, and walkers alike. Set apart from the highspeed traffic on Veterans Parkway, you can take in the scenery that includes wetlands, mountains, migratory birds, and more often than not, wild horses too. The only drawback is the distinct lack of shade, so mornings and evenings are best for summer runs.

Located roughly halfway up Geiger Grade Road this lookout may have the best views over Reno and across to the Eastern Sierra Nevada. Originally financed and built by Davison M. Geiger in 1862, this old toll road is nearly a must-do for any cyclist in the Reno area.
