The Fryeburg section of the Mountain Division Rail Trail consists of a 4-mile paved path that passes through the countryside while following an old rail bed. There are trailheads on both ends of the path on Main Street and Portland Street.

Steep Falls is the top volume waterfall in Maine despite only having six feet in drop. In the summer this area is popular for swimming and sunbathing on the sandy beaches. The currents in the pool at the base of the waterfall are dangerous and swimming downstream a bit is recommended.

The Bethel Pathway is a short paved trail passing through the heart of Bethel. This particular section of the trail hugs the shore of the Androscoggin River and even crosses over the water via a bridge.

Built in the late 19th century, the Parsonsfield-Porter Covered Bridge linked the two towns by providing a crossing over the Ossipee River. You can see it to the east when pedaling over the river on the new bridge which was built in 1960.
