Great scenery for cycling and jogging

National Park Drents-Friese Wold is one of the largest nature reserves in the Netherlands, with over 6,000 hectares of unspoilt nature. The park offers a variety of landscapes, from vast heathlands and sand drifts to dense forests and meandering streams. The area is ideal for hiking and cycling enthusiasts, with numerous marked trails and observation towers. Here you can enjoy nature in silence and perhaps spot rare animals, such as the crane or the black woodpecker.

These cycle paths have it all: water views, greenery and large grazers. Enjoy your cycle!

The Blauwe Meer in the Leggelderveld nature reserve is a deep recreational lake, created by sand extraction. Surrounded by trees, it offers clear water for a refreshing dip. Admission is €3.50 (free for Natuurmonumenten members and children up to 4 years) and payment is only possible via QR code. Enjoy beach food and drinks at the renovated kiosk. Dogs are not allowed.

Step off and admire the heathland from above from the viewing hut. Especially in late summer with the blooming heather this is a beautiful place for a short break.
