Hooksett is a charming town along the Merrimack River, known for its blend of natural beauty and history. It’s home to iconic sites like Robie’s Country Store, a historic landmark, and the Pinnacle, offering panoramic views of the surrounding landscapes. Hooksett is a gateway to outdoor adventures, with trails, parks, and a close-knit community atmosphere.

Highly suggest hiking this counterclockwise. Great 360 degree views from the top and a climbable fire tower!

Hooksett New Hampshire, is located along the Merrimack River and is part of the Manchester-Nashua metro area. The town was once a mill town, centered around manufacturing, in the 19th century. The town offers various recreational opportunities like parks and trails, including Donati Memorial Field and Twin Bridge Park. The small downtown area features the Robie Country Store, a general store in a historic building on the water. This local favorite, where you can buy souvenirs, snacks, and delicious sandwiches, is a great place to stop and refuel on your ride.

Oak Hill Fire Tower is a popular spot with locals. You will have to leave your bike at the bottom of the tower to be able to climb the stairs to the top of the tower for views of the western mountains of the Monadnock Region, Mount Kearsarge, Mount Cardigan, and others.

There is a public beach and car parking here at the south end of Webster Lake. Whether you are cycling along Webster Road or along the Northern Rail Trail, it is worth a stop here to look at the views. There is also a small, compact covered bridge with exposed side trusses, which is gorgeous to look at going over Chance Pond Brook. In addition, there are also rest rooms here if the need arises.

Another fine example of a covered bridge. The Andover Covered Bridge, or Keniston Bridge, carries Bridge Street over the Blackwater River near Andover, New Hampshire. It is a rare example of a covered bridge that is not fully sheathed on the sides, meaning the trusses on the sides are exposed; in reality, this enhances its beauty. It has been added to the National Register of Historic Places.

All told there are some forty miles of trails in Bear Brook State Park, with Bear Hill Pond quite nearly at the center of it all. Running along the Ferret Trail near the shoreline offers a nice break from the heavy tree cover on most of the trails.
