This charming village on the shore of Penobscot Bay has the tagline of "A Happy Place". The highlight is the historic district made up of former religious camp buildings that have been well preserved and admitted into the National Register of Historic Places.

Located at the southern tip of Islesboro Island, Pendleton Point has great views over the rocks and across the water.

Despite its ominously cool name, that evokes the horrors of a Stephen King novel, Dark Harbor is actually known as a pleasant summer retreat.

The current lighthouse and keepers quarters were built in 1874 and continuously operated until 1934. The lighthouse was decommissioned in the 1930s only to resume operations just over 50 years later in the 80s. These days the keepers quarters are home to the Grindel Point Sailor's Museum.

This is a small, secluded beach with few amenities so make sure you come prepared. There is a small parking area that fills up quickly during the busy summer months so biking here is a great option.

Unity Pond is located between the towns of Unity, Burnham, & Troy and is the biggest lake in Waldo County. Kanokolus Beach & Burnham Town Beach are open to the public and provide access for fishing, swimming, boating and other water related activities.

Quantabacook Lake sits near the headwaters of the St. George River. It's rather secluded and a peaceful place to visit if you're in the area. The lake is a "popular" spot for fishing and canoeing but even at the busiest times it still isn't crowded.
