Nestled along Clear Creek, the Dr. Ned and Fay Dudney Nature Center, formerly the Davis tract, spans 148 acres and is one of the last undeveloped properties with wetlands in the area. The park is home to diverse wildlife, including Sandhill cranes, herons, egrets, and owls. The site features a 1.3-mile birding trail with bird blinds, restrooms, picnic tables, BBQ grills, and a pavilion. It is a lovely spot for a short hike in a quiet, peaceful setting to immerse yourself in nature.

Bay Street Park is a great park in downtown Texas City. The park has concrete biking and walking trails, covered picnic shelters, and restrooms. The park is also home to the Wings of Heritage Display, which is a permanent exhibition with old military planes.

The Bolivar Ferry is a beautiful way to reach this area from Galveston. During the journey, you can enjoy breathtaking views of impressive tankers and barges as they pass to and from the port and see plenty of dolphins following the shrimp boats, hoping to grab a quick meal. The ferry ride is free of charge and operates 24 hours a day. Each trip spans about 2.7 miles and takes approximately 18 minutes. You can bring your vehicle on board or walk on, depending on your plans.

Fort Travis Seashore Park spans 60 acres and sits within the boundaries of the historic Fort Travis. It includes a variety of attractions to explore, including a historic fort and bunkers that have been restored to their original condition, complete with authentic military equipment and uniforms. There is a museum, barracks, well-preserved structures, exhibits, cabanas, camping areas, picnic areas, wetland overlooks, and plenty of grassy areas. The park is home to many types of waterfowl, making it a great place for birdwatching while enjoying a picnic surrounded by the scenic views of the Gulf.

The Galveston Island Nature Tourism Council commissioned this six-foot permanent sculpture of the elegant Eskimo Curlew in 2020. It is the sixth sculpture of The Lost Bird Project, with each memorial permanently installed near the last sighting of the bird. According to the Texas Bird Records Committee of the Texas Ornithological Society, the last fully documented North American sighting of the Eskimo Curlew was in west Galveston in 1962.

This well-maintained park, along Clear Creek, is a hub for a variety of outdoor recreation. It features multiple sports fields, kayak and boat launches, a fishing pier, sand volleyball courts, picnic areas, playgrounds, restrooms, and plenty of grassy open space. It's a great location to begin or finish a day exploring the city, where you ride the loop around the park, or spend time under the shade of big oak trees and enjoy the quintessential views of the bayou.
