Good opportunity to rest, but busy.

These lakes are a popular spot for fishing. There are a couple of nice hiking trails too, and a campground.

It's quite a grind to get up here, at an elevation of 8,736 feet or 2,663 m, but sometimes you just have to play road biker for the views.

You can locate the trailhead for Van Sickle Bi-State Park by Montreal Avenue and Park Avenue. This trail offers a quick and stunning hike to a small waterfall, along with beautiful panoramas of Lake Tahoe. The lower part of the trail is easy, winding through boulders, while it gradually becomes a bit steeper and more moderate about 10 minutes into the hike. Along the way enjoy views of Mt. Tallac and South Lake Tahoe.

Gazing from CA88 along the West Fork Carson River offers enchanting views of Hope Valley Wildlife Area. The scene unfolds with lush meadows, framed by towering peaks. The river's gentle flow adds to the picturesque setting, creating a serene and captivating panorama along this California route.

Cycling along Emigrant Trail Road next to Mesa Vista reveals stunning mountain vistas. The majestic peaks, including the Sierra Nevada Range, stand as a breathtaking backdrop. Riders are treated to the grandeur of the landscape, offering a scenic journey through the rugged beauty of the surrounding mountains.

The views from this road of the surrounding hills and mountains are an impressive site, and a pleasure to cycle through. Look out for Crystal Spring campsite, which is generally open late April to late September, conditions permitting.

The Lakeview Commons is a nice beach to stop at to grab some pictures and enjoy the views. This very popular large beach allows you to walk out to the water and see the stunning view of the surrounding mountains. In the summer months, there are concessions here.
