This section of Sage Creek Road runs past Teton Reservoir (on the east side of the road). Teton Reservoir is a good place to refill your water bottles in almost any season, as long as you have an appropriate water filter to render the water safe to drink. There's a side road leading to the reservoir at the south end of this segment.

This is a high-altitude pass across the Continental Divide in the Sierra Madre mountains, named for a battle that took place in 1841. You'll find the crumbling remains of a historic townsite here, and a couple of trailheads for accessing the Continental Divide Trail, which runs north and south of here. In autumn, keep an eye out for the bright colors of aspen trees near the highway.

The entire Snowy Range Road is gorgeous, but this pass has to be its crowning glory. There is a parking area, so you can start a run here if you like; but if you start somewhere else and use this as the endpoint, you can have a relaxed, downhill run on the way back.

Of all the lakes you'll pass while riding Snowy Range Road, Lake Marie is the prettiest and most accessible from the road. This sort of scenery is exactly the reason for riding this road.
