Cedar Crest Manson is the official residence of the governor of Kansas and was added to the list of the National Register of Historic Places in 1982. The 244 acres of surrounding land is known as MacLennan park. The park offers trails, skatepark, dog park and large play area.

The Red Trail Loop is a mountain biking and hiking trail accessible by parking at Cedar Crest Mansion or a parking lot near the state park boat ramp. There are many trail offshoots, allowing you to choose your own hike difficulty and length. The Red Trail Loop is the most popular loop in the park.

The Cedar Crest Mansion was constructed in 1928 by publisher Frank MacLennan. His wife dedicated the mansion and surrounding land to the state of Kansas, creating MacLennan Park. Cedar Crest Mansion has served as the official residence of the governor of Kansas since 1962.

Woodridge Primitive Park is a great place to spot wildlife, including beavers, coyotes, and birds. Keep an eye out for venomous copperhead snakes. Along the trail you will find forests, fields, and miles of lakeshore trails. This trail is relatively quiet most of the time, and great if you are seeking a peaceful nature walk. There are numerous benches and campsites along the trail.

Clinton Lake was created by damming the Wakarusa River in 1975 as part of a flood control program — violent flooding had damaged towns in the Wakarusa valley in the century prior. Today Clinton Lake triples as a reservoir, flood control system, and recreation area.
