The fee area that encompasses this trailhead (South Tufa Fee Area) has no closing hours, but there is a standard amenity fee of $3 per person, per day, for anyone 16 years old or older. Anyone 15 years old or younger can enter for free. Vault toilets are available at the trailhead.

Twin Lakes, as its name suggests, is a park comprised of a set of connected lakes to the southeast of Mammoth Mountain. Eruptions of Mammoth Mountain caused the formation of lava cliffs on one side of the lakes. The other side has a campground and ski lodge.

Bodie is great fun, there is so much to discover and endless photo opportunities. The journey is a bit bumpy, be careful with rental cars. Unfortunately it can only be reached by car. In any case, plan to stay for a few hours. The visit can also be easily combined with a visit to Mono Lake. Then that's a full day.
