MASSACRE STATE PARK

Ames Mansion, built in 1910, is one of the main attractions in Borderland State Park. The mansion was the home of Blanche Ames Ames, an inventor who was involved in art, farming, engineering and politics. Now, the mansion is open to park visitors and has been used in several films, including Ghostbusters, Shutter Island, and Knives Out.

Great place for biking

This is a very nice local Dartmouth beach that looks out over the harbor. Next to the beach is a park with parking, picnic areas, and sports areas as well. This is a great place to star or end a ride while enjoying the views.

The Frank Knowles-Little River Reserve is part of a 500-acre nature preserve around the headwaters of Dartmouth's Little River. There are several miles of trails that take you through the park and across a variety of terrains.

A focal part of Borderland Park, Ames Mansion dates from the early 1900s. The mansion has been featured in a number of movies, as recently as 2019 “Knives out” and 2016 “Ghostbusters.” Guided tours of the mansion are available.

Middle Pond is a lake within Massasoit State Park, a wonderful 1,200-acre (480 ha) woodland. Middle Pond is one of six lakes and ponds in the park. There are lots of cranberry bogs, too. The park has a large network of trails for hiking, biking, horse riding and skiing.

Demarest Lloyd State Park is a public recreation area located on Buzzards Bay in the town of Dartmouth, The park's 200 acres include both an ocean beach and seaside marshlands near the mouth of the Slocums River.
