A compact but varied reserve just west of Nykvarn, Jägarskogen offers quiet forest walking on a short loop of about 3.5 km. The terrain shifts between old pine and spruce stands, rocky knolls and small wetland pockets, giving the area a surprisingly wild feel for its size.

The Mariefred Cemetery contains the grave of Kurt Tucholsky, who emigrated from Germany to Sweden in 1929. This was preceded by a five-month stay near Mariefred in the summer of 1929, where he found the material for his "summer story" Gripsholm Castle, published in 1931. This road crosses the Vackstaskogen nature reserve, located next to Vackstaviken bay, by Lake Långsjön in Södertälje municipality.
