Calloway Peak is a 5,919-foot peak in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains. It is most commonly reached via the challenging, steep, and sometimes exposed Grandfather Trail. This is a proud summit with open views of the surrounding area.

Down a short, out-and-back spur trail off of the main Grandfather Trail and just below Calloway Peak, is an amazing overlook. From here you get great views over the mountains. This is a great detour before or after you summit.

Home to one of the most popular sunrise viewing areas on the entire Blue Ridge Parkway, the Thunder Hill Overlook is located at Milepost 290.4 and rests at an elevation of 3,795 feet. The overlook boasts a pretty big parking area (no picnic tables, though) and a wide open view. This viewpoint is a nice change of pace from a lot of the overgrown overlooks along this part of the parkway.

The Moses Cone Manor and Estate can be found within Moses H. Cone Memorial Park near Milepost 294 on the Blue Ridge Parkway. You can't bike on the trails or carriage roads on the property, but it's still worth stopping at and checking out. You get great views of the mountains surrounding Blowing Rock, and there's plenty of history to explore in and around the structures.
