This is a beautiful, paved two-lane multi-use path that grants you sweeping views of the desert and of Mount Lemmon. The path is about ten miles long end-to-end and takes you along the northern edge of Tucson. Be sure to visit at sunrise or sunset for some spectacular views.

The Desert View Trailhead is located at the northwestern corner of Twin Peaks Campground. There are restrooms and drinking water available as well as a trail register that you can sign. The Desert View Trail is 1.1-mile loop that takes you through a beautiful natural cactus garden with giant Saguaros and plenty of Organ Pipe Cacti.

The Victoria Mine is the oldest mine in southwestern Arizona. There are some remains of the shafts that are an habitat for bats today. The mine was prospected for gold, silver, copper and lead. You can also find some scattered mining equipment around the mine.

A local favorite, maybe because it's not as known as other trails in the area. The trail has a pretty loose surface all along and the first (quarter) mile is no joke! It is very steep in the beginning. The view over the straight Soldier Trail (the road) crossing the entirety of Tucson is pretty cool!

The canyon is beautiful and prone to waterfalls if you visit at the right time of the year. Here there are some quite dramatic rock formations dubbed Jailhouse Rock, Mr. Meanor & Alcatraz that are used as both climbing walls and scenic destinations.

There are restrooms and ample parking at the trailhead. This loop is really well maintained and makes for a great warm-up lap to get a feel for the desert. There is a small climb and a delightful variety of cacti to marvel at along the path.

Victoria Mine is one of many erected in this area during the gold (and silver) rush of the 1890s. During its first decade, Victoria Mine yielded a veritable fortune of silver ore to Mexican businessman Cipriano Ortega. The mine was used all the way through 1976, and while the mine shafts are closed off you can walk up to and around the ruins of the old mining building.
