A wonderful spot for camping along the Strawberry Mountain loop. Fish swim in the clear waters, mountain goats dot the slopes above, and we noticed bear scat so plenty of wildlife to watch for!

Beautiful campsites along this jewel of a lake. Look for mountain goats crossing the ridges above.

Sitting at just over 9,000 feet, the summit of Strawberry Mountain offers expansive views of the Strawberry Mountains and the John Day Basin.

A lovely 110 foot cascade over basalt cliffs, well worth the hike up to view it. Enjoy the cooling effect of the water on a warm summer's day.

A great destination for a backpackers who don't want to hike in too far. Look for spots all around the lake; there are flowing creeks on the south end. Good fishing.

Every time we have enjoyed the atmosphere at Anthony Lake, it has been surprisingly quiet with far fewer people present than expected. The lake has a boat launch and is very accessible for bringing a canoe or other water vessel. A popular place for fishing, the scenic mountains surrounding the lake make you feel truly disconnected from the world in the best way possible. There is a trail around the entire perimeter of the lake that is great for a stroll with pets or children - or even yourself! The lake also has camping, both RV and tent sites available, along with 3 yurts you can reserve to lengthen your stay.

True to its name, the lake is blanketed with a plethora of lily pads. The lake is just off the side of the Black Lake trail, accessible by the boat launch to Anthony Lake. Come early enough and you might even hear the croak of hundreds of bullfrogs.

Blue Basin Overlook is an official overlook maintained by the National Park Service that offers awesome views down into the John Day River valley. The Blue Basin Overlook Trail looks around a lot of the landscape that you look down onto from this overlook.
