Goose Lake is a small, attractive lake in the Carson National Forest just below Gold Hill. This is a great, scenic destination in the summer in and of itself, or to tack on with a hike to Gold Hill or Lobo Peak.

The Goose Creek Trail follows the drainage from Goose Lake in the Carson National Forest. This wooded trail climbs steadily uphill along the creek to the lake where you can either turn around and head back to the car (after a swim, of course!) or link up with several challenging trails to continue climbing up toward Gold Hill or Lobo Peak.

Lost Lake is one of many high elevation reservoirs within the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. Because most of the trails in the area are in wilderness areas, there aren't a ton of mountain biking options out here. For that reason, this lake is one of the main mountain biking destinations in this part of the mountains.

This section of the South Boundary Trail passes beneath Osha Mountain on Osha Pass and through the forest on a sometimes-rocky trail. This section of trail is popular with mountain bikers so keep an ear and eye out when hiking around here.

There is a parking lot with room for one or two dozen cars at this trailhead.

Lost Lake is a small body of water that sits just to the east of the ridge in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains that includes, in northwest to southeast order, Mount Walter, Wheeler Peak, Simpson Peak, Old Mike Peak, and Red Dome. Lost Lake is a good place to rest on a long hike.

This is a small, picturesque, alpine lake. Wheeler Peak and Mount Walter, the highest and second-highest points in New Mexico, respectively, can be seen rising above the lake, just to the west.

The summit of this 12,711-foot mountain is above the tree line and therefore provides good views of nearby mountains, including Wheeler Peak, the highest point in New Mexico.
