Herkimer House is a Georgian-style house museum. The mansion belonged to General Nicholas Herkimer, who took part in the battle of Oriskany, which is considered an important battle in the Revolutionary War. The museum offers tours running every hour from Wednesday to Sunday. The outsides of the house are a nice place to have a picnic with views of the Mohawk River.

This is a picturesque section of the Erie Canalway Trail, with this crevasse and lots of green at the side of the path.

Erie Canalway is a multi-use path that follows the Erie Canal. It is a 360-mile trail crossing the state of New York, connecting the cities of Albany and Buffalo, passing through historic sites. The path goes through gravel and asphalt, with small sections using local roads. This is a great option for a nice bike touring ride, with easy access to touristic points and the facilities of the small communities along the way.

Fourth Lake is part of the 8 lake Fulton Chain of Lakes. The area is a popular recreation destination and the lakes have large numbers of a large variety of fresh water fish species. Moss Lake Trail runs through an old forest road, so it is a flat trail with packed surfaces, making it a great trail for running. You can just run the loop around the lake, or detour around the connecting trail to Bub and Sis Lakes for a slightly longer run.

A grand body of water surrounded by the trees of Black River Wild Forest, Woodhull Lake is a delightful sight. It's one of the region's most popular destinations and is easily accessed from the McKeever Trailhead. The lake is also popular for fishing and boating.
