The Sierra Valley Preserve is a nature hotspot. Even cycling past, you can appreciate the beautiful wetlands and meadows, which are particularly stunning when carpeted by wildflowers. It is an important habitat for a variety of birds, including the yellow-headed blackbird and the white-faced ibis.

Good view of Red Rock from the road. If you have extra time you can ride up the gravel road for a closer look. The striking colors of the rocks are even more dramatic around sunset/golden hour.

The nice little climb to get up here is worth it for the view of Cold Springs and the surrounding area. It's very exposed so be sure to have plenty of water and sunscreen.

Flat, straight segment on the northern side of White Lake. Great views across the water of the mountains and sky. Can get very windy but the sunsets are incredible.

"The Name "Devil's Corral" is attributed to the haunting sounds of the wind in the rocks in this area and the sun bleached bones of dead cattle that were seen for many years after a disease killed a herd here." - BLM(sign at bridge)

The meadow was a nice change of scenery on the trail. Nearby is Goat Mountain and the Susan River Canyon. There are some farms in the area as well.

Susan River begins at Caribou Lake, on the east side of Lassen Peak. It passes the Bizz Johnson Trail to Susanville and flows into the Great Basin. You get excellent views of this river for a large segment of the trail.
