Dramatic sunsets looking downstream over the Zhuoshui River- Taiwan’s longest river, dividing north and south. There’s a lovely ride south from here along the flood wall, just be aware there are only a few ramps where you can get off again; plenty of stairs though.

The road through the gorge is scenically impressive. After the earthquake in April 2024, much of the infrastructure was still damaged in April 2025, with no restaurants open and no access to hiking trails or suspension bridges. Nevertheless, I highly recommend the drive through the gorge.

Beautiful ride. Then you have a lot less traffic for the next 60-90 minutes.

It's even more beautiful riding uphill ;) It's definitely more scenic than the road in the south of Alishan, and with less traffic.

One of the most beautiful pieces when circumnavigating the lake: turquoise water, floating islands and a shady path - just fantastic :) Beware of the trees on the path.
