This trail spans a total of 4.34 miles, providing a well-maintained paved path that extends from Heritage Park to the downtown area. As a vehicle-free route, it offers a peaceful environment for a hike.

At 4,313 feet long, just under a mile, this is the longest floating dock in the country. Take your time as you go and watch your step while crossing the boardwalk. The surrounding parks have plenty of benches for you to rest a bit and enjoy the views.

"The High Point"; this is the highest point of the Lake Mineral Wells Trailway at 1,235 feet above sea level. This chapter speaks of a story involving a real-life Little-Engine-that-Could involving the railroad and Fort Wolters.

The toilets are kind of sad and depressing here, but there is a map of the trailway and a water hose available nearby for drinking water. It saved my life because I ran out of water on the trail. There is also drinking water available at the Garner Trailhead and the Mineral Wells trailhead. There is a parking lot at the Weatherford Trailhead big enough to fit 20-30 cars. There is a small lake nearby as well.

Very beautiful park area with a nice bridge, beautiful views of the water, with a fountain and fishing and plenty of places to sit and enjoy the view. The cypress trees and their roots sticking up out of the ground make it that much more beautiful.

There is so much to do here... Once you're in the park you can fish without a license for free.

There are hardly ever any visitors here, so you are almost guaranteed to have the place to yourself. Aside from the traffic on the highway nearby it is a very quiet place to sit and think. There are some statues, there's a collection of vehicles from the Vietnam War, a giant helicopter which is the centerpiece of the park, and a memorial garden. There is also an entrance into the Lake Mineral Wells State Trailway along the backside of the park. This is where I like to park while I'm riding the trail.
