This is one of the prettiest sections of bikeable roadway near Thousand Oaks, with gorgeous Lake Sherwood just off the road to the south. If you head west on West Potrero Road you can connect into a large loop of roughly 20 miles, doubling back toward Thousand Oaks before returning to the lake.

Beautiful lake

Channel Islands Harbor in Oxnard is at the southern end of the Santa Barbara Channel. It is a 126-acre waterfront resort and recreation destination. As the fifth largest small-craft harbor in California, it offers activities like jet skiing, whale watching, and pretty sunsets over the ocean. Bikers can enjoy beach-lined parks, picnic spots, uncrowded surf beaches, museums, and delicious local dining.

Los Padres Open Space is located near the southern end of Moorpark Road. Spanning across 187 acres, this beautiful area features chaparral-covered hillsides, captivating oak woodlands, and a stunning stand of coast live oaks. Accessible via the Los Padres Trail (mostly single track)on the west side of Los Padres Drive, this area is frequented by deer, rabbits, California quail, California thrashers, and many other birds and animals. The oak woodlands are an excellent place to observe migrating birds, such as warblers and vireos, in the spring and fall.

Mirror Lake is located along the Ojai-Ventura Bike Path, offering breathtaking views of the mountains in the background. If you're taking a long ride, there is a shelter here, perfect for a break to rest and recharge.

The Lake Eleanor Open Space encompasses a 250-300 foot-high ridge between Lake Eleanor and the Las Virgenes Reservoir. There is a great view all along the ridge.

This is a beautiful reservoir tucked into a really scenic rolling landscape. In the center of the lake, you can see Main Island. Its peak rises more than 500 feet from the surface. Lake Casitas was also the site where canoeing and rowing happened at the 1984 Summer Olympics.
