This area is one of the driest along alingthe Continental Divide: the map shows some blue streams and lakes, but in reality these are dry most of the year. Therefore this is a strategic man-made well with continuous flow into a small wetland. Last reliable water source on the Divide Trail after Atlantic City. Next reliable water is 55 miles south-east at A&M reservoir.

The perfect opportunity to pedal along wide-open highway, although you can look forward to some steep grades as you bike in and out of the Wyoming town of Rawlins. This part of the country is notoriously windy, so plan accordingly. The interesting, often droopy-looking plastic fencing you sometimes see alongside the highway is snow fencing, meant to help reduce the flow of windblown snow across the flat grasslands during winter.

The Carissa Gold Mine is part of the South Pass City community and known as the greatest gold mine in Wyoming. From May through September you can book a guided tour into the old mining building and the English Tunnel.

This place is just incredible! A few meters from the parking lot, you'll find the Sinks where the river enters into caves inside the mountains and the water then will exit in the Rise just half a mile down the road. The curiosity is that the water will take up to two hours to cover that distance, meaning that the cave's network is quite extensive and so far, it is unknown exactly what path the water follows once it enters the Sinks. Just an amazing spot!

Amazing hike all year round! The trail goes along the river and there are several panoramic spots where you'll get amazing and beautiful photos!

Amazing place! This valley next to the river is a very picturesque one, with amazing views towards the Wyoming landscape, the Cathedral and Crescent mountains. You can access the river and walk along it, a perfect place for rock hunting!

During the late 19th century the mercantile was a general store. Today it is a small unique bar and restaurant where you can get great food like burgers and steaks.
