This is a beautiful stretch of the West Fork Calcasieu River, and a lovely spot to stop and spend time by the river. The sound of the water is peaceful along this stretch of the trail, where you can stop and listen to the birds in the trees and likely see a beautiful heron or an egret while you're here.

Sam Houston Jones State Park spans 1,087 acres at the confluence of the Houston River, the Calcasieu River, and the Indian Bayou. It features lagoons dotted with bald cypress trees, diverse wildlife, and excellent opportunities for boating, kayaking, and bird-watching among its longleaf pines—some of the oldest in the south. The park includes three hiking trails, including the historic Old Stagecoach Road, which is ideal for short or extended hikes. There is ample parking, restrooms, and drinking water, with an entry fee of $3 to visit one of Louisiana's most beautiful public parks.

Sam Houston Jones State Park is home to a variety of species of flora and fauna. The bike trails weave in and out pine trees and past multiple swamps. The roads within the park make for great additional riding.

Sam Houston Jones State Park is made up of a pine forest, acting as home to a variety of animals. This is an especially great area for bird watching. The multi-use trails, campsites, and boat launches welcome a variety of visitors.

Millennium Park contains a rubberized playground, walking paths, and a small splash park. The walking paths along the lakefront turn to boardwalk and pass by multiple boat launches and fishing docks.

Veteran's Memorial Park is situated along a beached cove (named Prien Lake) of the Calcasieu River. The park encompasses Bilbo Cemetery as well as a large green space, multiple pavilions and picnic tables, a playground, and a boat launch.
