Nice view of the settlement surrouding the lake from the bridge. Has dedicated narrow lanes for bicycle and pedestrian. Keep left.

The Philosopher‘s Path is a actually a walking path with stone slabs. Cycling can only be done on the road/path directly adjacent. But equally nice. The road is partly asphalt, but mostly gravel. Good to ride, but better with a city or touring bike.

Good place for a dip in the lake.

Good ways to come here is by bike or by walking. I did it both coming from Kiyomizu-dera. It should be less crowded near sunset. You can go up the Nanzenji Temple San-mon Gate, but it will cost you a little bit. Of course you should visit the Suirokaku Water Bridge right next to it, too. There is no special place to park your bike, but there are some spots where it fit right.

Regardless where you come from, try to use the North side of the bridge: the sidewalk/bicycle lane is wider, and there's a small area in the middle of the bridge to enjoy the view
