Paintbrush Canyon is a scenically impressive canyon in Grand Teton National Park in the US state of Wyoming and a highlight for hikers and backpackers. The canyon is a glacial trough formed by glaciers at the end of the last Ice Age. It lies between peaks such as Rockchuck Peak and Mount Saint John to the south and Mount Woodring to the north. At the base of the canyon lies Leigh Lake, and further up the canyon is the alpine lake Holly Lake (2,870 m).

After Labor Day Shuttle Service starts at 10AM, last trip back at 4PM. Very convenient service to expand hiking options.

Christian Pond doesn't get the same recognition that the nearby Emma Matilda Lake does, but this wetland reservoir plays host to a lot of the local fauna and is an excellent spot to see wildlife. The Christian Pond Loop Trail is super popular, and it connects to a bunch of other trails in this part of the park.

Parking Lots fill up quickly, so come early or be prepared to hike a little further.

Top of the switchback, last good view of the canyon

This attractive wooden footbridge crosses a narrow stream that connects String Lake to Jenny Lake. This is a great place to take photographs of these two bodies of water and the rugged peaks that tower over them. The footbridge is a nice spot to sip some water and take in the views as you circumnavigate Jenny and/or String Lakes.

Leigh Lake is a popular, but much quieter feeling lake in Grand Teton National Park in large part because it is only accessible by hiking trail or by non-motorized boat. Most approach this spot at Leigh Lake via the trails that circumnavigate String Lake. From here you get unobstructed mountain views across the clear waters. This is a great place to take plenty of photographs and eat a snack before continuing on your hike.

There is a shuttle boat service that takes you across the lake from the main Jenny Lake area to its western shore. Right from these docks are trailheads for two of the most popular spots in Grand Teton National Park: Hidden Falls (just .5-miles away), Inspiration Point (just 1-mile away), as well as the trail that travels into Cascade Canyon, which takes you deep into the backcountry. This is a great option if you want to eliminate an additional 2-miles (4-miles round trip) from the hike to the western shore from the main Jenny Lake area. During the peak summer season boats run every 10-15 minutes daily. There are no reservations required; you just purchase either round trip or one way ticket at East Boat Dock at the main Jenny Lake Area.
