If you select this highlight for a bike route, Komoot will take you down a road with no access allowed, However, there is a track to the right that gives a good view of the reservoir. For the bike route there is another Highlight that takes you down a proper signposted road to the Dam. Both are extremely quiet and worth a look.

This is one of those climbs that's perfect for testing yourself from time to time and seeing how fit you are. With eight kilometers and 523 meters of cumulative elevation gain, ramps of almost 16%, and spectacular views, you won't want to miss this climb every now and then.

The first waterwheel in this place dates back to the 15th century and was made of wood. The current waterwheel, made of metal, was installed in 1956 and is 11 metres in diameter. The waterwheel is used to raise water from the Acequia Mayor Alquibla to the Acequia del Turbedal, allowing the irrigation of the lands in the upper area of Alcantarilla. The museum, opened in 1967, shows the ethnology of the Huerta de Murcia and is focused on various axes such as agriculture, anthropology and water culture.

A great road north of Casas Nuevas. South of there is very little asphalt between all the holes. It's really no fun to drive! Be sure to check out the section highlights and trail view pictures!

In the north mostly new asphalt (but not everywhere), very wavy. Relatively little traffic despite the tourists. Very nice view of the great landscape. In the north of this section it is worth planning to go west, as it goes directly through the Sierra Espuña :)

Decent asphalt, hardly any traffic, great landscape. I would strongly recommend the C25, the road south to the RM-515 (Cuestas del Marqués) is in very poor condition. In the south of the section we head west uphill to the Sierra Espuña :)

Very good asphalt, almost no traffic and a great landscape. Great route that you should plan for. It's just a little wavy and the waste of putting up all the signs twice instead of continuing to use the old poles is annoying. In the north you can continue west to go around the Espuna, in the south of this section you can go further west to go through the Espuña over the mountain or further south to go around the Espuna via Alhama de Murcia.

3월 31, 2024, RM-515: Casas Nuevas to Pliego
Decent asphalt, wide road, very less traffic and lots of ups and downs. Great route with great scenery, but unfortunately in the south from Casas Nuevas it only continues on a really bad road. In the north I would always drive via Pliego and NOT take the C24 or other roads to the east beforehand! The roads there are all bad (even if the RM C24 to the C5 is still quite good). The RM-515 (Pliego <> Alhama de Murcia) is almost completely new (2022), making driving much more fun.

In this area you will find what remains of the more than 80 kilometers of irrigation ditches that date back to the Arab and Roman era. Here we can find important vegetation typical of humid areas such as ivy, sarsaparilla, elm or maidenhair.

Nice bridge that we find in the Contraparada area. An ideal place to run. There is a large grove of trees where you can stop to rest or have a picnic.

An irrigation system that distributes water to the orchard on the right bank of the Segura River. Its construction dates back almost a thousand years. Next to it you can visit the Huerta Museum and the Aqueduct Park. If you visit at night it also has lighting.
