Quite idyllic view and if you are on the horseshoe route you can trace back almost the complete set of ridges from here (and see other people scrambling up there).

A short climb/scramble brings you up to the top. The view is amazing if the top is not in the clouds. Much easier to reach from the Snowdon side if you just go for the top, but then you miss the fund part.

Great tour along the ridge of Crib Goch. Highly exposed in many places and solid scrambling (on mostly good rock) required as most mistakes here will be fatal. Orientation is not too tricky if you follow the polish on the rock, but there are sections with different options and difficulties (especially around the pinnacles). Be aware that the ridge is quite long and you will have to cross it completely in most cases as there is no escape and going back is not any easier. If you are up to the difficulty an amazing experience with great views.

What a mess at the top, a long line waitng on the stairs for the top even on weekdays (some struggling to climb the stairs in wind), a totally overcrowded cafe and more slippers than in most shoe shops. The easy ascent by railway probably contributes to this, but even without the chain of hikers working up the easier approaches is impressive.

In my view THIS IS NOT A HIKING HIGHLIGHT, but mountaineering. The ridge of Crib Gich is a great scamble, right over the ridge. The rock is pretty solid, but exposure is high in places and any mistake/slipping is probably fatal along most parts of the upper section. You are rewarded with great views and a unique experience.

One of the best climbs / scrambles in the UK by far. Must be done during fine weather conditions. Gloves are a great addition for added grip.

Crib is not for those doing a scramble for the 1st time. Especially in adverse conditions

The name "Snowdon" is first recorded in 1095 as Snawdune, and is derived from the Old English elements snaw and dun, meaning "hill of snow". The Welsh name for the mountain, Yr Wyddfa, is first recorded in Latin as Weddua vaur in 1284. This is probably an approximation of Pen y Wyddfa Fawr. The element gwyddfa in this context means "height, promontory", and also occurs in the Welsh name for the town of Mold, Yr Wyddgrug. Gwyddfa later developed the meaning "gravestone heap", and there is a legend that the giant Rhita is buried beneath the cairn on the summit of the mountain. According to one legend, the giant Rhita was slain and buried on the mountain by King Arthur, while another legend suggests that Rhita was killed by the giant Idris who lived on the mountain Cadair Idris. Bleak Llyn Llydaw lies to the side of Wales' highest mountain Y Wyddfa (1085m) , Llyn Llydaw is the long and narrow lake out of the two that’s has formed in a cwm partway up the mountain, the steep rugged sides of Lliwedd overlook the lake.

A great spot to cool off your feet after a long day of hiking. Tip: Bring some spare socks and a small microfibre towel.

The Miners’ Track is one of the most popular walks to the summit of Snowdon and involves a straightforward start, followed by a trickier and steeper finish. Starting - target point - Finish - Miners Track - Snowdon Summit - PYG Total Distance: 6.54 km Ascent: 766m - Time: 3 hours Timings are approximate and depend on the individual. Calculate the time using Naismith’s Rule and factor in your own pace. Zig Zags are an accident blackspot when iced and navigation from the PYG/Miners junction to the zig zags can be tricky in mist.

The lake is a nice place to stop and admire. It is so quiet and the wind is generally not to bad. Would recommend heading to the lake on the way down after the summit.

Snowdon (Yr Wyddfa) is perhaps the most ascended mountain in the world, and with good reason. This is a majestic mountain, as is befitting of Wales' highest point. Its glory lies in the myriad routes to the summit. There's everything from the gentle inclines of the Llanberis path to the knife-edged arête of Crib Goch. The south side of the mountain is generally quieter, with the South Ridge in particular a fine route up. The Miners' and Pyg Tracks are straightforward, classic approaches that enter the incredible natural amphitheatre that holds Llyn Llydaw and Glaslyn. To get the summit to yourself, rise early and avoid peak season.

Put your preconceptions to one side and forget what you think you know about mountain-top cafés, intrusive train lines, and tourist-crowded summit cairns. Snowdon is a masterpiece. With a cartwheel of ridgelines separating unique cwms, each of a different character, and studded by copper-tinted lakes deep in legend, Snowdon is possibly the finest massif in Britain.
