Poor Elidir Fawr! It has been bashed about and big lumps knocked out of it at Dinorwic Quarry, it has had a power station built inside it, and has a reservoir for that reservoir almost at the very top. Fortunately when you climb it from Nant Peris you will only see the reservoir, the rest of the damage is ot of sight.

Here you climb to Y Lliwedd. A beautiful, uncrowded route.

Bit of a scramble to get to the summit good footwear is a must, keep them ankles safe 😀

Quite idyllic view and if you are on the horseshoe route you can trace back almost the complete set of ridges from here (and see other people scrambling up there).

A short climb/scramble brings you up to the top. The view is amazing if the top is not in the clouds. Much easier to reach from the Snowdon side if you just go for the top, but then you miss the fund part.

Great tour along the ridge of Crib Goch. Highly exposed in many places and solid scrambling (on mostly good rock) required as most mistakes here will be fatal. Orientation is not too tricky if you follow the polish on the rock, but there are sections with different options and difficulties (especially around the pinnacles). Be aware that the ridge is quite long and you will have to cross it completely in most cases as there is no escape and going back is not any easier. If you are up to the difficulty an amazing experience with great views.

What a mess at the top, a long line waitng on the stairs for the top even on weekdays (some struggling to climb the stairs in wind), a totally overcrowded cafe and more slippers than in most shoe shops. The easy ascent by railway probably contributes to this, but even without the chain of hikers working up the easier approaches is impressive.

In my view THIS IS NOT A HIKING HIGHLIGHT, but mountaineering. The ridge of Crib Gich is a great scamble, right over the ridge. The rock is pretty solid, but exposure is high in places and any mistake/slipping is probably fatal along most parts of the upper section. You are rewarded with great views and a unique experience.

One of the best climbs / scrambles in the UK by far. Must be done during fine weather conditions. Gloves are a great addition for added grip.

Crib is not for those doing a scramble for the 1st time. Especially in adverse conditions

Bleak Llyn Llydaw lies to the side of Wales' highest mountain Y Wyddfa (1085m) , Llyn Llydaw is the long and narrow lake out of the two that’s has formed in a cwm partway up the mountain, the steep rugged sides of Lliwedd overlook the lake.

Elidir Fawr the northernmost peak in the Glyderau range. It's known as the 'Electric Mountain' due to the Dinorwic Power Station that sits deep within its foundations. The mountain's western flanks have also been extensively quarried, a familiar sight from Llanberis. Despite these human intrusions, Elidir Fawr rises proud and defiant. Its rocky summit ridge is a delight to explore and its position on the edge of mountain country gives it huge views across Northern Snowdonia, as well as northwest to Anglesey.

The lake is a nice place to stop and admire. It is so quiet and the wind is generally not to bad. Would recommend heading to the lake on the way down after the summit.
