A very fine mountain that is the high point of the Carneddau range. These mountains are high, remote and so much quieter than the Glyderau or Snowdon. Fabulous walking country.

Carnedd Llewelyn is high and relatively remote, so walks there are quite a serious undertaking.

As the previous person said, it is very very wet on the outward path from the bothy. If you do decide to go anyways, make sure to have a walking stick or similar to stabilise you and determine the depth of the water before sticking your foot in it.

Magnificent and dizzying view! However, prefer to go around in the opposite direction to that indicated. The steep slope is very narrow and steep. Easier to go up than to go down.

The return leg on this walk is often very boggy...In wet weather I recommend returning on the outward route....

With a summit that’s just only twenty one metres lower than Y Wyddfa, a walk on to Carnedd Llewelyn is one that is well worth considering, especially if you prefer your summits free of the chaotic people like upon on Y Wyddfa does, but the Carneddau range is a very special place to experience It really is remarkable every where you look. I was shocked of how much of quieter beautiful mountain range that Wales’s second highest mountain actually is. The mountain is located in a vast wild area called The Carneddau. This is basically a largely untouched collection of mountains and valleys found in the north eastern part of the park. The Carnedd Llewelyn has a summit height of 1064m making Carnedd Llewelyn Wales’s Second Highest Mountain.
