Mynydd Llangorse is a western outlier of the Black Mountains. The trig point stands at 1,660 feet (506 m) and offers great views south. The highest point on the ridge is further north, where you climb slightly to the true summit at 1,690 feet (515 m). If you aren't summiting as part of the Black Mountains round, you can run from which ever side is most convenient, there are loads of paths that bring you up to the north-south ridgeline trail.

Llangorse Lake is a gorgeous place and a fulcrum point for the start of many local activities and attractions in the area. The lakeside views are stunning, and the distant views of Pen-y-Fan are simply sublime. There is also ample parking, a great cafe, toilets, and a small shop on site.

7월 9, 2023, View of Llangorse Lake
Llangorse Lake (Llyn Syfaddon) is the largest natural lake in Mid-Wales. It is also one of the lakes around which mythical stories about the Afanc (a monster) are told. The island contains the only crannog in Wales. Research showed that the crannog, an artificial island made with oak beams, layers of stones and earth, was probably constructed in the 8th century.

Grasping the insane size and view of Llangorse Lake, of which is the largest natural lake in Mid and South Wales, and is situated in the Brecon Beacons National Park, near the town of Brecon and the village of Llangors. The lake is famous for its coarse fishing, watersports, the afanc and has the only example of a crannog in Wales.

Mynydd Llangorse is a hill on the western edge of the Black Mountains in the Brecon Beacons National Park in Powys, south Wales. It lies two miles east of Llangors and its lake and 5 miles south of Talgarth. Its summit at 515m (1690 feet) overtops the location 600m to the south at which a trig point is sited by 9m. The broad spur of Cefn Moel extends south towards the village of Bwlch whilst a spur to the southeast forms Pen Tir which reaches just over 450m above sea level. The actual walk is better than expected has breathing all around 360° views, It's absolutely Stunning. It is a Marilyn with a prominence of 161 metres. The lower slopes of the hill are formed from mudstones of the St Maughans Formation whilst the upper slopes are formed from sandstones and mudstones of the Senni Beds Formation, both of the Old Red Sandstone which was laid down during the Devonian period. A thin calcrete known as the Ffynnon Limestone occurs at the junction of the two formations in some places. The calcrete and the sandstone have been quarried in various places over the years.

You get some of the best views of the Usk Valley from here, with views all along this beautiful fertile valley all the way to Brecon. The views across to Talybont-on-Usk and the surrounding hills adds to the ambience of this lovely valley view. The summit here is also the location of an Iron Age fort, so it is a lovely spot to come for a picnic. I normally do this one as a 22km loop along with Mynydd Troed and Mynydd Llangorse. The loop gives you fantastic views of the Brecon Beacons and of course Llangorse Lake. For details of the route click here: https://www.komoot.com/tour/252226991
