The place to be if you're a hermit

This ancient stone circle from the Bronze Age, built several millennia before the beginning of the Christian era, is neither as impressive nor nearly as famous as the legendary English "Stonehenge" on the plains near Amesbury (which is, after all, a UNESCO World Heritage Site; if you're interested, see =>> https://www.komoot.com/de-de/highlight/960007 ). But it can be visited without the tourist crowds that are typical there.

It's a steep hike up from Kenmore but at least it's an excellent gravel vehicle track. This viewpoint is a great excuse for a pause.

Taymouth Castle, located in Perthshire, Scotland, is a grand 19th-century mansion surrounded by breathtaking landscapes. It stands as a testament to architectural splendor and offers a glimpse into Scotland's noble heritage.

Although not the true summit, the cairn on the path here is thought to be the best viewpoint on Kenmore Hill. From here, look west to see the great mass of Ben Lawers and its subsidiary summits, the highest peaks in Britain south of Ben Nevis. To the north is the classically pointed Schiehallion, one of Perthshire's most celebrated mountains.

A small passage leads to a great viewpoint of the waterfall. The tunnel is long enough that it is fully dark in the middle... torch is handy!

The main falls have some height, and can be seen from a good viewpoint at the hermit's cave. A bridge crosses further up at some smaller falls, and a path leads through the wood to make a nice circular route.

The 6th largest loch in Scotland (by area) Loch Tay is long and deep (23.5km long and 150m deep). There is a road on both sides of the lake so you can walk a loop but the road on the northern shore is faster and not that fun to walk on. The Munros to the north are brilliant walking country though.

Acharn Stone Circle is a prehistoric monument in a picturesque hillside position overlooking Loch Tay nestled amid the mountains. This stone circle, along with others nearby, is among some of the earliest signs of civilisation you find in Britain.

The Falls of Acharn is a dramatic waterfall in a spectacular wooded gorge. There are paths around the falls with viewing platforms. Those who hike through the Hermit’s Cave are rewarded with a tremendous view of the waterfall.

The Hermit’s Cave is a folly that was built around 1790. The folly leads down a long, dark tunnel before emerging from the darkness to reveal a striking view of the waterfall across the gorge.

Cool place to walk up to from the road

Very interesting place next to the falls. A great spot to integrate into a larger hike along the valley.

This Folly represents a cave with three openings: two entrances and a balcony with view over the falls. Built in the 18th century, the balcony was a room with library-wallpaper, huge glass and and a big fauteuil.
