The nearby visitor centre is worth a visit - coffee and cake. Bike rack outside the centre. Crossing the dam entails walking the bike up and down steps.

The loch northside road offers, in places, excellent scenic views over the loch and valley. Don't forget to visit the southside single-lane road for an even more scenic and quiet cycle.

A loop of Loch Tummel is a most enjoyable ride. A recommendation is to go anticlockwise to avoid a steep upward hill climb on the south side. The northside road is a normal dual-lane - not dual-carriageway - road that's usually fairly quiet. The southside road is mainly singletrack and very quiet.

Free car parking and many tracks and paths suitable for different bike types. A useful start and finish point. Oh, and it's scenic as well.

Pitlochry Hydroelectric Dam and Fish Ladder spans the River Tummel at Pitlochry in Perthshire, Scotland. It was built between 1947 and 1951. By damming the River Tummel, Loch Faskally was created behind it. There is a salmon count monitor and the dam power station has a visitor centre.
