Beautiful loch shore track

The station, known from the film Trainspotting, is one of the smallest and most remote stations in Europe and is served by the railway line from Fort William, among others. In the station building there is a restaurant which offers hot and cold drinks, delicious cakes and hot snacks.

Geographical centre of Scotland In 2002, the Ordnance Survey calculated the centre using a mathematical centre of gravity method. It becomes complicated when the islands are included so one simplification is just to ignore them. Corrour Station lies at the foot of Leum Uilleim and Beinn a‘ Bhric in a picturesque landscape. The train station is - despite its remoteness - a popular start for outdoor activities. There is a restaurant with hot meals and delicious cakes, snacks and souvenirs. It also offers free WiFi.

A beautiful and well maintained Estate house and gardens. Famous for its use as a film location, Monarch of the Glen and The Crown have been filmed here. One of the wings which survived a big fire in 1873 was that which Queen Victoria had previously stayed in.

From here you can follow a trail leading to a beautiful sandy beach at the Eastern end of Loch Laggan. On a clear day there are views down the waters towards a number of hills including the Munros of the remote Creag Meagaidh.

Lying on the western edge of the Cairngorms National Park, the Spey Dam and Reservoir offer a scenic and peaceful place to cycle, with a quiet, waterside road and glorious mountain views. Together, they comprise the upper-most part of the Lochaber Hydro-Electric Power Scheme. Built by the British Aluminium Company in 1944, the scheme is now owned and operated by multi-national group Alcan. The River Spey was dammed at this point, 10 miles (16 km) southwest of Newtonmore, to create an extensive reservoir, with a canal connecting the reservoir to Loch Crunachdan and a further tunnel channeling water into Loch Laggan.
