This is such a gorgeous and quiet backroad. There's a few big potholes lurking

There's a get in point and a bench under the bridge of you fancy a dook or to sit and enjoy some food beside the river

I haven't stayed here but thought it would be useful to share the location in case anyone is looking to stay in the area

Mainly built in the 18th century, albeit with a few more modern additions, Straiton retains its 1700s charm. Interestingly the main location for the film 'The Match', where two rival pubs played against each other in a football match. So at least you know you'll be able to get a pint if you stop off mid ride!

Pretty little bridge crossing the water of Minnoch near to Glentrool. Nothing more than that, but a nice place to spend a few minutes and listen to the water and spot some birds.

A great spot to start/end a ride. There's a car park, cafe and loads of local route information from MTB loops to road rides.

Small Loch with a cool sculpture - The Eye - located beside the loch. The spire is a piece of public art designed by Colin Rose in 1997 as part of the "Art in the Galloway Forest Park" project. It is 8 metres tall and is built from red earthen tiles. It's part of a famous walking trail and well worth searching out next to the Loch.

Two Lochs side by side in fact, which accounts for the name, as the two look like a pair of spectacles. A fisherman's paradise - The largest tench caught in Scotland was recorded here.

Small waterfall at the side of the road, that runs into the River Cree. Pretty typical of this area but still very nice to look at. There is also a bench to take a rest.
