Holy Loch is a tidal sea loch. It was used as a US Navy submarine base up until the early 1990's. A network of paths through the trees on the hillside affords glimpses of the loch (hopefully) glittering in the sunshine.

Puck's Glen is a trail that winds along a Victorian walkway up gorge, passing several waterfalls. The paths around Puck's Glen are mostly firm but uneven gravel paths, with rough, rocky and narrow sections. Expect steep slopes and depending on your chosen route, long flights of rough steps. A number of bridges to cross and some wet sections after rain.

When you come to the sign turn right up the glen. I decided to go UP the glen as 1) I was less likely to slip and end up on my bum) and 2) I thought I might not notice the climb so much if I was stopping to admire the waterfalls.

Bramble found a picnic table so I took the hint and we stopped for lunch (there is a 2nd picnic table further on but I think this one is nicer)

When you get to the top of the glen you emerge onto a forest road. Turn left here. The view soon opens out again

Park up in Pucks Glen Car Park. Saddened to see all the litter here. Wish people would be more considerate. Start the walk by following the path beside the plastic looking lodges (don't be enticed by the little footbridge heading uphill)

This dark and atmospheric trail is a magical experience full of tumbling burn, cross-crossed by bridges and is enclosed by rocky walls heavily hung with mosses and overshadowed by dense trees. The clear waymarked paths continues uphill, through a mixed woodland planted by the Estate in 1870 and the steep and narrow gorge is interwoven with waterfalls and shallow rock pools spanned by arched wooden bridges.
