역사적 배경과 많은 볼거리가 있는 흥미로운 작은 마을: 1. 에이브베리 스톤 서클 세계에서 가장 큰 선사 시대 돌 원형 극장. 스톤헨지와 달리 돌 사이를 자유롭게 걸어 다닐 수 있습니다. 이 원형 극장은 에이브베리 마을을 둘러싸고 있습니다. 2. 에이브베리 헨지 돌 원형 극장을 둘러싼 거대한 흙벽과 해자. 일부 장소에서는 이 구조물의 엄청난 규모를 잘 엿볼 수 있습니다. 3. 실베리 힐 유럽에서 가장 큰 인공 선사 시대 언덕. 이 언덕은 에이브베리에서 남쪽으로 약 2km 떨어져 있으며 신석기 시대의 매혹적인 수수께끼입니다. 4. 웨스트 케넷 롱 배로우 5,000년 이상 된 거석 무덤으로, 무덤 방에 들어갈 수 있습니다. 이른 아침이나 저녁에 특히 분위기가 좋습니다. 5. 더 생츄어리 오래된 행렬 도로 끝에 있는 또 다른 석기 시대 의식 장소의 유적입니다. 6. 웨스트 케넷 애비뉴 한때 에이브베리와 더 생츄어리를 연결했던 인상적인 석조 거리입니다. 7. 에이브베리 매너 16세기 저택으로 아름다운 정원이 있습니다. 현재는 내셔널 트러스트에서 관리하고 있습니다. 8. 알렉산더 카일러 박물관 에이브베리와 주변 기념물의 역사 및 고고학에 관한 작지만 매우 흥미로운 박물관입니다. 9. 윈드밀 힐 영국에서 가장 오래된 신석기 시대 유적지 중 하나로, 윌트셔의 풍경을 아름답게 조망할 수 있습니다.

Sidbury Hill, or Sidbury Camp, is the site of an Iron Age bivallate hillfort on the eastern edge of Salisbury Plain in Wiltshire, England. The site is sub-triangular in shape, approximately 17 acres in area, and is constructed on the site of a Neolithic settlement. The hill offers excellent defensive slopes on all sides, which have been supplemented by the double ditch and rampart earthworks. The settlement and hillfort were partially excavated in the 19th century and the 1950s; there were finds of pottery and other artefacts. A Neolithic settlement site was discovered during the excavation in the 1950s, being of a section of the south-east rampart of the hillfort. A number of flint flakes and tools were recovered. The site is a scheduled national monument. Trees planted in the 1960s were removed from 2002 and the area was allowed to revert to the natural chalk downland. Access to the site is difficult as it is on, or near, Ministry of Defence land, and there are many tank tracks and occasional artillery firing in the area. There are also numerous ditches, barrows, trackways, field systems, and tumuli in the area. Due to erosion issues climbing on the barrow is now forbidden. Such a shame, but understandable.

The top section is great coming down after Fyfield Common, but the descent down into Avebury is tricky even on a mtb. Once you reach the farm it's been absolutely destroyed by 4x4s and tractors. So good luck. This type of track is my least favourite part of "official" cycling trails. They just whack the signage up and don't do any restoration or introduction of bylaws to prevent offroad vehicles from using them, restricting enjoyment for other users. It's not like there aren't miles and miles of offroad byways around here which could be legislated for multi-use and non-motorised use.
