In the valley below Great Elm, a charming bridge crosses the Mells River, with a bench on the riverbank offering a peaceful spot to enjoy the views or take a refreshing dip. A layby on one side of the river provides convenient parking if you'd like to start your journey here.

Two great cafes in the village, all very picturesque

Good cafe stop. Last time I went many of the food options were sold out but there was a street food van outside at the outdoor seating area out front. Plenty of seating on warmer days and space to leave your bike within view.

Nice and convenient shop on route

Mells is a small pretty village in northeast Somerset. The streets feel old with several historically important buildings including the old church and manor house. The Talbot Inn is a great traditional country pub offering food, drinks and snacks from 11:00 - 23:00 Wed to Sun. The Walled Garden café and community plant nursery is open for cafe food and pizza from 11:00 - 16:00 Wed to Sun.

In the valley below Great Elm there is a little bridge crossing over the Mells River. On the bank of the river is a bench which is a perfect stop either to enjoy the scenery or take a little dip. On one side of the river is a layby for cars to park if you want to start your journey here. There are also public bins here so no excuse to #leavenotrace and keep the countryside litter-free.

Public toilets in the car park in Frome. Features multiple unisex, female only and male only toilets as well as disabled access and child changing facilities. The toilets were clean and well maintain with automatic flush and sinks. Beware the voice that warns you when you've overstayed your welcome when struggling to squeeze back into your kit! Open during lockdown (Aug 2020). Opening 7am-8pm in summer and 7am-6pm in winter but can be accessed with a radar key outside these hours.

A beautiful walk linking the town centre with the train station. You can walk or cycle along the footpath or walk through the grass alongside the river. A stunning route whatever the season.

Great walking route between Mells & Frome

Frome CTC meet here 9am Sunday for a ride (8am for a long ride if the market is on). Good cafe and bike parking.

Cheese Hill...What a beast to try and run up!

A steep climb coming out of Trudoxhill. Its also a good spot to cross over the main road and across to Nunny.

Pretty little village

Garden cafe surrounded by beautiful planting and sculptures. terraced areas to enjoy the sunshine or a large greenhouse if it is raining. Very cycle friendly, with a wood fired pizza oven if you have worked up enough of an appetite.

A couple of great little lanes very close to Frome town with footpaths leading off if your looking for a quick local run or a walk.

Talbot inn at Mells is one of the best pubs in the area. Huge garden and traditional interior

Great place to stop for tea and cake on a ride or walk. Attached is a little shop selling local produce which is handy if you need to grabs some snacks to take on the road.

Best viewed as the sun goes down and shines through the trees at it
