St. Mary's Church: The parish church, dedicated to St. Mary, is on the edge of the village. While the chancel and nave were rebuilt in 1843, parts of the building, including the south porch, aisles, and tower arch, are partly 14th-century, and the west tower is 15th-century. It's on the site of an even earlier building from around 1100.

Beautiful village and great bluebell woods!

Walk here in the spring to find carpets of bluebells under the trees. The woods are great for other wildflowers as well, such as celandines, primroses and the tall spears of great mullein and foxgloves.

Ashmore Wood is a Forestry England area of woodland in the Cranbourne Chase & West Wiltshire Downs AONB. It's a mix of broadleaf and conifer trees with a floor rich in wildflowers. Also a great place to find fungi.

A central pond, thatched cottages and a sense of peace, Ashmore is a wonderfully pretty village to pedal through. It's actually the highest in Dorset – too high for time to have caught up with it, as it rather feels like stepping into history.

While Dorset has more than its fair share of long barrows and other ancient burial mounds, Solomon's Quarter looks like a particularly fascinating example. Located in a field immediately north of Eastbury House, this intriguing arrangement of earth mounds form part of the original Eastbury park. The mounds here may look very much like the tumuli that dot the landscape but they are actually false. Instead of ancient burial mounds, they were likely created by the owners of Eastbury for aesthetic purposes.

This pretty church sits besides the magnificent and privately-owned Chettle House. The church bells were cast in the 14th century but the oldest part of the church itself is 16th-century. Explore the peaceful churchyard and its ancient yew tree. It's easy to catch glimpses of the neighbouring house from here as well, standing in open parkland.

Situated on the edge of Cranborne Chase plateau, Tarrant Gunville is a pretty village with plenty of history. The parish it sits within has hundreds of ancient round barrows and the village church has sections dating back to the 15th century. The village was also home to Eastbury Park and its palatial mansion which, despite being built at great expense, only stood for around 40 years. It was demolished after gaining no owners after the original died. There are some remains still standing, which were once let out to the son of Josiah Wedgewood, the famous English potter.

Standing at 700 feet (210m) above sea level, Ashmore is the highest village in Dorset and one of the highest in the south of England. The quaint village consists of thatch and stone cottages, farms, and an old church, all centred around a pond.

Definately worth a visit. Excellent village store with great coffee and superb pasties. Great range of produce as well.
