The North Dorset Trailway now extends approximately 14 miles from Sturminster Newton to Spetisbury, with a section in Stalbridge they aim to link with, providing a safe route for walkers, runners, cyclists, equestrians and people with mobility scooters. The Trailway is largely made up of sections of the old Somerset and Dorset Railway which linked Bristol and Bournemouth until the 1960s.

Easiest and safest way to get across the river stour. The main road is narrow over the bridge, and heavily congested at times.

Black Cactus is a very friendly cafe with delicious food. you can charge up, recharge and refresh. Nice space to park your bikes right infront too. dogs also welcome.

This former mill is now a building of apartments. If you run by here, you'll see a weir, a bridge, and a large millpond.

The village of Witchampton is a picturesque setting, with a church dating back to the 15th century. About a kilometre north of Witchampton stands the archway of Crichel House, an imposing stone archway.

The Kingston Lacy Kitchen Garden is being restored by the National Trust which has been in decline since the 1960s. The kitchen garden was originally designed and built in 1876 to grow fruit, veggies and flowers for the Kingston Lacy estate. The kitchen garden now supplies produce for the cafe at Kingston Lacy, so you can come and sample the home-grown produce.

The train line was removed in 1966 but this station was left. Volunteers and enthusiasts have worked here since 1997 restoring the station and laying some track in 2008. It's now a mini museum with the restored station and some rolling stock and engines. They plan to extend the track towards Sturminster Newton and eventually run a heritage railway service. The cafe and shop are open when the station is open, currently Open on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays 10am-4pm.

Cracking little spot on the edge of the river Stour to stop for lunch, or even just a quick break from a day's riding!

There's a car park and viewpoint at the top. Coming from the east is a long gradual climb. Coming from the west it is a short, sharp climb hitting 15% in places. But…going down (especially eastwards) makes it worth it.

Difficult climb on a bikepacking rig but good scenery.
