About 5 miles out of Marsden; this is not easily accessed as there is a steep (but very short) descent to the water. But well worth the effort for a picnic spot in Summer. Chances are that you will get the spot for your own, a real luxury in the Peak District !

Can be quite boggy

Digley Reservoir is located just within the boundary of the beautiful Peak District National Park. It features stunning scenery of open countryside and lovely woodland, and there are plenty of benches to sit on and admire the view.

Beautiful views from the bridge over Riding Wood Reservoir, one of a series of 4 reservoirs built between 1872 and 1932.

A popular area for dog walking, Digley Reservoir is a scenic trail to run round. Digley offers a varied trail alongside woods, through fields and the edge of the moor, with plenty of lovely scenery and views over to Bilberry Reservoir.

Dean Clough is a hidden gem in the Peak District, with lush valleys and cascading waterfalls. Be mindful of the weather when crossing, as rainy and wet conditions may be dangerous.

Bilberry Reservoir, nestled in the Peak District, offers tranquil beauty with its clear waters and surrounding moorland.

I found the hike great.but was boggy in loads of places..very slippery..narrow paths on some parts

Black Hill 582m (1909ft) TP3980 - Holme Moss 2958 County of Cheshire County Top Peak District National Park Trig Pillar

A pretty stream crossing when the water levels aren't too high!

Amazing views on a clear day from near the beehive cairn. You can also see Black Hill and the Holme Moss transmitter tower and over to West Nab and Deer Hill. A great place for a cuppa!

A view of Bilberry Reservoir. In 5 February 1852, Bilberry Reservoir burst its embankment and an estimated 86 million gallons of water poured down the Holme valley along the route of the River Holme, causing considerable destruction to buildings and bridges, as well as claiming the lives of around 80 people. There are markers in Holmfirth town centre showing the height of the flood waters which was considerable.

A crossing over Marsden Clough, this bridge is the replacement for a former larger stone bridge which stood here. It's now a popular place for families to come in summer.

It's always nice to touch the trig after the climb up! There are lots of routes from here heading either to Holme Moss, Crowden or back down the Pennine Way to Wessenden.

The transmitter at Holme Moss is visible for miles around and towers over nearby Holmfirth. There is a car park on the other side of the road from the tower which has amazing views down over Holmfirth and Yateholme Reservoir.
